Ask a new question. With the time winding down on the free upgrade I went ahead and jumped the bullet to install 10 on my desktop. Though all specifications were cleared for go as I built the computer myself I decided it was a go. Honestly though this is turning into a bit of a nightmare. I had to do a base clean install of 7 to even get 10 to install. Then I had a horrible loop with the upgrade to Pro that the tech support was of no help on. That being said I\’m already at my wits end on this computer with I have a Surface Pro 3 which works fantastic and a new laptop with 10 that works just as great.

So everything is installed and ready to go and everything is perfectly fine, except for Steam and Origin. I have looked through countless posts and topics and the fixes like compatability mode etc have not worked. Uninstalling and reinstalling the games do not work. I\’ve gone back 2 years in drivers checking each and every one for which one would work, to no avail. In the case of Steam and Origin if you open the game it only comes up with a flashing black screen.

You have to tab out and close and in some cases actually have to use the task manager to force close it. There are never any errors when it does this.

Just black flashing screens. I have no idea where to start anymore. The laptops only difference is that it\’s running an Intel i7 and some form of Nvidia card. AMD says it fully supports Windows 10 and I know the games run on Windows 10 but this is the first time I\’ve run into this issue and it doesn\’t seem like an easy fix.

User\’s post on June 28, To get the pro update to install that\’s what the first Support person told me to do and it still didn\’t work. In the end I had to make a fresh USB with the media creation tool and unplug everything including the network to let it upgrade. There is a forum on Reddit that had suggested that as an option and it was the only way 10 installed and that it allowed the install of the pro upgrade.

From there I have refreshed windows once and did a repair install with the creation tool like support suggested again still to no avail with Steam and Origin. Everything else is working fine. I\’d like to do a completely clean wipe and install but if I delete all partitions and get rid of all the data from what I gather I will no longer have my Windows 10 activated.

My code for 7 was barely readable enough to get it installed clean to upgrade in the first place. I know all my specs checked out for the upgrade and I know the latest AMD Catalyst suite supports Windows 10, and has for a while. This has just been an ongoing headache for over a week now. This has been the case on the first install and subsequent reinstall, refresh and repair installs. Hope it helps.

If it\’s hardware specific though, what does that mean for if I upgrade parts, like get a new SSD, the new graphics, things of that nature? I see this hopefully solving at least my hard drive issue but I\’m still not confident on it solving my issue with Steam and Origin but it\’s not like I really have anything to lose by trying.

Edit: Well I went ahead and went through with that since I\’m horrible about waiting for replies. That fixed my hard drive not showing fully like it was supposed to. Everything else however is the same. This site in other languages x.
